Big Almaty Peak, a 3681-m-high pyramid which is visible from the city centre. The climbering on the top begins from the Zhosylkezen Pass, where the Cosmic Rays Reseach Station is located (3300m). It doesn’t require special mountaineering skills, but be prepared for 4-5 hours hard physical work, depends on physical shape of participants and weather conditions. It’d be good idea to spend overnight before the climbering near Big Almaty Lake (2511 m) or 2 km up from the lake at the hotel of Tien-Shan Astronomical Observatory (2700 m) for better acclimatization for high altitude.
